The
history of the NH Shooting Stars began
around a table in the cafeteria of
Timberlane High School in the winter
of 1990. Under the new AAU rules for
the coming years the State of NH would
now be required to have regional clubs
to select teams for national computation
instead of 1 team. Over the previous
years several of our coaches had gone
to nationals under the one state club
name the Rocketts.
In attendance
were Mr. Ralph Tucker, Mr. Buckey
Tardiff, Coach A, & Myself. Our
mission was two fold. 1st to create
a club that would sponsor & support
teams to play at national & international
competition in all AAU age groups
at the highest level of play. 2nd
to provide 1 to 2 lower levels of
teams that would not only act as a
feeder program, but in addition provide
a chance for less skilled players
to have access to a higher level of
coaching than the kids regularly have.
This while to have fun doing it. Thus
preparing them for successful High
School playing careers.
From the 1st
year our club has always been the
leader in AAU Basketball the State
of NH. We have put very successful
& competitive teams on the court
at international, national & regional
levels. Sending teams to national
competition in at leased 3 age divisions
every year of the clubs existence.
Many players
from the NH Shooting Stars have gone
on to have successful college playing
careers at Division I, II, & III.
But more importantly they graduate
with college degrees and are all well
rounded young ladies. One of our former
players Jamie Cassidy played in the
WNBA. A few of our former players
come back to the club as coaches thus
providing a unique understanding of
teaching the game of basket ball to
young girls.
The NH Shooting
Stars have a coaching staff unequalled
in the state. They are all very experienced
most with High School, some with College
coaching experience. This also gives
our lower level coaches the ability
to interact with the more experienced
coaches.
